What is Global Creativity Initiative
Global Creativity Initiative (GCI) is an emerging international organization whose purpose is to seek, archive, celebrate, and share global examples of creativity, related research, innovations, and their motivations. When the first GCI meeting took place at the SOU Creativity Conference in 2022, it brought to fruition attempts to collaborate internationally.
For whom?
GCI is for those interested in discussing, reading and writing about creativity to support a global initiative.
Mission
The GCI is a learning organization whose aim is to share understanding about creativity and innovation across countries and cultures that will create new collaborations, novel research and mutual understanding.
Goal
The GCI goals are to i) design a shared hub of diverse representations of creativity as practiced worldwide and ii) help spark creative activity in a range of
ways—individual, community, national and international.
Activities
The first GCI activity is to create a virtual archive comprised of research publications, videos and other artifacts of interest to members. The first creativity talks from creativity trailblazers were presented at the 2023 Southern Oregon University (SOU) Creativity Conference. We heard from distinguished creativity scholars: Bonnie Cramond, Vlad Glaveanu, Fredricka Reisman, Ruth Richards and Mark Runco.

You can read about GCI in chapter one in the newly published KIE Creativity Book entitled Unpacking Creativity: Culture, Innovation, and Motivation in Global Contexts, Edited by Dr. Fredricka Reisman and Foreword by Dr. James Ogunleye, KIE Chair, that will be distributed at the KIE “The Knowledge, Innovation and Enterprise” conference to be held in Madrid, 25-27 July 2023, as well as online to the GCI members at https://kiecon.org/creativity-books/
